commitments

today a friend of my dad called, wanting to give us a dog. a collie dog. my dad was like,"erm, i have to talk to my wife first...we'll think about it." while i was whispering to him,"just say yes!"

a dog...that was my dad's promise to us since we were young. he used to say,"wait till u get bigger and then u can take care of it yourself." the days passed by, and now here we are...no dog.

well, having a dog does take up a lot of time. that's what my dad was worrying about, especially that now i have so many things going on. it's true. having a dog means commitment, but i already have at least three commitments in my life currently: my piano theory exam is in march 2008 and my teacher's rushing with the syllabus; i practice wushu twice a week, everytime coming back with muscle cramp; i am now writing a story and hope to finish this book b4 may; i have to practice a paino duet for a charity concert in april, and it is not easy; i am taking driving lessons; i am going to learn embroidry; i want to finish reading my two novels, no, three! i...i want to...LOOK! it's not only three commitments. it's a never-ending list. and why did it ever exist? blame me. i have too many interests, and i dont give up on things easily.

help...

obviously, all these commitments that i have tied myself to makes me excel really slowly in each field. i want to be the best at everything i do, but the result is, i can only afford to be good in everything i do. haiz, so much for having a dog...looks like i'll have to give this wish up.

the most important commitment of all, one that i have not mentioned, is commitment to God. what i had been praying everyday, is it necessary? i think i have been very selfish, always only thinking of myself. what do everyone else by my side mean to me?

i hope that no matter how many commitments i have, i would never abandon the most important commitment of all, till the end of my days...
